Seattle Humane Accepting Hurricane Harvey Shelter Animals
The Bellevue-based animal shelter will house pets from Texas shelters to make room for pets lost during Hurricane Harvey.

BELLEVUE, WA - Local pet rescue Seattle Humane is preparing to accept some four-legged evacuees from hurricane-ravaged Texas. The shelter is scheduled to accept an airplane full of shelter animals on Wednesday at Boeing Field in Seattle. The animals will live in Seattle to make room in Texas shelters for pets lost during Hurricane Harvey.
Seattle Humane recently opened a brand new shelter along Southeast Eastgate Way in Bellevue - and just in time, too. Seattle Humane Society CEO David Loewe told KOMO News that the shelter can accept up to 200 pets.
"Seattle Humane is prepared to relieve overcrowding in animal rescue organizations in Texas who are taking in numerous pets displaced by #HurricaneHarvey ― pets lost in the chaos, left behind, or simply in need of temporary housing while their owners stay in evacuation shelters. You can help now by making donations to Austin Pets Alive!, SPCA of Texas, Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center and the San Antonio Humane Society," Seattle Human wrote in a Facebook post.

The shelter is in need of foster parents to take care of some of the displaced animals. If you're interested in fostering a pet, you can find more information on Seattle Humane's website.
The shelter also shared a video from Austin Pets Alive! showing how big the pet crisis is as a result of Harvey and subsequent flooding:
