Suspect In Brutal Murder Of Bellevue Woman Was Stationed At JBLM

Joint Base Lewis-McChord resident Krishna Mahadevan-Prasad, 20, killed a Bellevue woman in a Renton hotel room on Tuesday.

BELLEVUE, WA - Police are releasing more information about the man who committed a brutal murder inside a Renton hotel room on Tuesday - and who later opened fire on two cars along SR 104 in Port Ludlow.

Police found the mutilated body of a 38-year-old Bellevue woman in a room at the Econo Lodge off Northeast 44th Street in Renton around 2 p.m.

"Investigators arrived to discover that the woman had suffered numerous cut wounds to the body including what appeared to be intentional mutilation occurring after death," police wrote in a press release.

Detectives determined that Krishna Mahadevan-Prasad, 20, of New Jersey, was the killer. Mahadevan-Prasad was in the Army and stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, according to Renton police.

Renton police issued a bulletin on Tuesday afternoon alerting other departments that Mahadevan-Prasad was wanted for murder.

Hours before that bulletin went out, Mahadevan-Prasad was waiting to cross the SR 104 bridge across the Hood Canal when he fired shots at the vehicles in front and behind him. He then turned the gun on himself and committed suicide. One of the people Mahadevan-Prasad shot at sustained a graze wound.

The victim's identity has not been released. It's not clear how Mahadevan-Prasad knew her.
