2017 Supermoon: Will Weather Let Bonney Lake, Sumner See It?

Pacific Northwest weather might prevent us from seeing the 2017 supermoon, the only one happening this year.

SUMNER, WA - The only supermoon of 2017 will happen Sunday night, but us Pacific Northwest residents might never know it. A supermoon is the closest the moon gets to Earth, making our planet's satellite appear huge in the sky and nearly 17 percent brighter.

We can always hope for a weather miracle, but our viewing chances aren't looking so great, or at least not totally clear. Here's the weekend forecast from the National Weather Service:

The supermoon phenomenon which occurs when the moon reaches a point closer than usual, shone brightly Tuesday night in Beijing, as the smog that often blankets China's capital city and most of the industrial north in winter subsided for the evening.
