PUYALLUP, WA - Police and firefighters Wednesday night recovered the body of a fisherman missing since in the Puyallup River since May. Another fisherman spotted the body of Lorenzo Perez, 46, who fell into the river on May 29 while fishing with his family.
Perez was fishing in the vicinity of Mama Stortini's in May when he fell into the river. Perez apparently slipped and fell into the river and was not wearing a life jacket. Immediately after he fell in, crews searched the river for Perez, and a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter also assisted in the search.
Perez' family set up a fundraising effort to pay for continuing his search. The GoFundMe page states that Perez fell after the ground crumbled underneath him. Two people jumped into the river help, but could not reach him.
