An officer on location at Bonney Lake Tavern noted the suspect's cab dropping him off there. Trip to ER: Police turned over a suspect wanted on a warrant from Orting to East Pierce Fire and Rescue for transport to the Good Samaritan Hospital ER after he said he'd swallowed 20 to 30 30-mg oxycontin tablets before the vehicle he had been riding in was stopped by an officer who was following up on an unwanted person report from Safeway at 12:40 a.m. The man was reportedly in a restricted area of the store, so employees requested police help removing him. The responding officer found he had already left the area but was able to locate him with help from a Pierce County Sheriff's deputy. The woman driving the vehicle he was in told police she only knew his first name and he called her for a ride. After she was released, he admitted to swallowing the tablets that belonged to her but she didn't want to get into trouble. Orting Police assumed custody of the man at that point.
