BONNEY LAKE, WA — Bonney Lake Police say they've seen a number of false messages being spread on social media in the wake of the unrest in cities like Seattle and Bellevue where large protests have escalated into cases of looting or violence. Despite the damage in nearby cities, police say Bonney Lake has remained peaceful.
To dispel the rumors, they've issued a series of statements that they hope will clear things up:
- There has been no reported looting or rioting in Bonney Lake.
- Posts online claiming that "200 cars inbound" have come to town to start riots are false, no information supports that claim.
- Pawn shops in the area have not been targeted by looters, as some posts claim.
