Bonney Lake Police: Man Who Fled After Attempted Theft at Target Later Arrested for Shoplifting in South Hill

Vehicle Prowl: Police responded to the parking lot at O’Reilly Auto Parts at 10:04 a.m. for a report that two of the delivery trucks were broken into overnight some time after 9:30 p.m. The trucks were parked next to each other and the suspect(s) appeared to have punched out the opposing door locks. Two disposable cameras kept as part of the trucks’ collision kids were stolen.

High Speed Chase: Police arrested a 30-year-old woman after a pursuit that began at about 1:50 a.m. on Bonney Lake Blvd. and ended on East Valley Highway East near A Street S.E. in a gas station after it jumped onto the curb and drove toward people standing in the area where officers struck the suspect vehicle with a push bar to disable it. The pursuit began after an officer attempted a traffic stop in an area known for mail thefts of late and the suspect vehicle's records showed discrepancies, but the vehicle didn't yield. Speeds went up to 90 mph during various stretches of the pursuit, and it was later determined the vehicle was stolen out of Auburn. The driver was booked in Pierce County Jail on charges of possession of stolen property, felony elude, reckless endangerment and second degree driving while license suspended. Two passengers in the car were released at the scene.

Property Damage: A Bonney Lake High School student reported to police at 11:59 a.m. that he had parked his father's van in the school parking lot that morning at about 6:50 a.m. and when he returned at about 10:30 a.m., he found someone had written letters and symbols in the dirt on the front hood of the van. After removing the dirt, he found the paint on the van was scratched.

Vehicle Prowl: Police responded to Bonney Lake High School first at 11:50 a.m. and again at 1:51 p.m. regarding a truck that had its passenger side window broken. The victim reported a purse that was hidden under a blanket on the floor was stolen. A witness reported that a suspect red or orange Ford Explorer was seen leaving the parking lot shortly after the window was broken.

Shoplifting: Police arrested, cited and released a woman seen stealing several health and beauty items from Walmart at 3:49 p.m.

Property Damage: Police responded to Bonney Lake High School at 10:45 a.m. for a report a student had punched several walls and caused property damage up to $600 because he was angry his teacher had confiscated his cell phone. The student told police he had anger management issues and ADHD too. Charges were being forwarded to Remann Hall for malicious mischief.

Shoplifting and Assault: Police responded to Target at 1:10 p.m. for a report a man had taken appliances from the store and tried to get a refund for them at customer service before later simply trying to leave the store with the items valued at $380. When confronted by an employee, he assaulted her and fled. She was able to identify his vehicle. He was reportedly arrested later that day at Kohl’s in South Hill Puyallup for attempting to steal a $500 vacuum cleaner. Charges for theft and assault for the Bonney Lake incident were being forwarded to the county prosecutor.

DUI: Police arrested a driver for DUI at 4:17 p.m. after two witnesses reported his reckless driving and he eventually stopped at the parking lot in the Chevron station at 214th Avenue East on State Route 410.
