Bonney Lake Woman's Death In Fire Ruled Accidental
A woman died over the weekend in a fire at a home in Bonney Lake, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner.
BONNEY LAKE, WA - A 55-year-old woman died in a fire in a home on Sunday, and her death has been ruled accidental, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner.
Sandra Penland, 55, died of smoke inhalation related to the fire. The fire broke out just before 11 p.m. Sunday night in Penland's trailer along the 91st Street East, according to East Pierce fire. That location is just north of Cedarview Park.
The fire drew a large response, including 19 firefighters.

"Engine 111 arrived to find a double wide mobile home well involved in fire and began a defensive
fire attack from the exterior of the building. After the second in engine provided a water supply
and the third engine arrived, the operation quickly transitioned to an offensive attack with
firefighters entering the structure to conduct a search and continue extinguishment," the department said in a press release.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
