Grad Night for Sumner High School Seniors

Over the course of this last year, I've learned a great deal about Sumner, the businesses in our downtown, politics, our citizens and mostly, I've learned what amazing students we have at Sumner High School.

All year long, I have witnessed the leadership and community involvement of the student body and especially of the outgoing graduating seniors of 2013.  As part of their graduation celebration, each year a "Grad Night" is held to give these students and future leaders of Sumner a place to celebrate their accomplishments.  This is all done in a safe and secure environment so that all can have a great and memorable time.

This year, a major supporter and funder of this student function backed out leaving Grad Night without funding to support the event.  The Sumner Downtown Association was approached and asked if there was something we could do to ensure this activity goes off without a hitch.  As a non-profit, our funding is always tight and yet, we will find a way to help if we can.  We sent an email to all of our members sharing the above and asking them to consider giving a little something to these students who do some much for community all year around.  Personally, I think this request should go to the entire city of Sumner and the result is this blog.

If you would be willing to contribute a raffle item, snacks and especially a little cash to see to it these students have that memorable and amazing night to celebrate their graduation, please contact me at the SDA office 253-891-4260.  I will make sure you are put in contact with the appropriate person.  I can think of no better way to set an example of giving than to give back to those who are champs at giving to Sumner...our Sumner High School Senior Class of 2013!
