I love sharing fun and interesting places to take your kids. Let’s face it, the weather is terrible so any water type activity is out the door. However, over the weekend we were invited to a children’s birthday party that was super fun for kids and can be done any time of year.
We went to Auburn’s Horsepitality Too Stables, a local equine farm that offers lessons for the beginner to advanced rider as well as children's birthday parties. The kids got to take their turn in learning about how to take care of a horse prior to the fun of riding; teaching them about good horsemanship and responsibility. The girls started by learning how to safely approach the animals and then how to groom them. After the ponies and horses were clean the kids saddled up and got to ride. Some of the girls road English and some Western saddled. They learned basics in Dressage and Stadium over the course of 60 minutes. My youngest child (just 2 years old) even got on the back of one and did a few rounds.
After the lesson was party time and the staff gave each child a miniature horse of the one they rode. My six year old hasn’t let it go since, proudly showing everyone she sees and saying, "this is Jag, I rode him!" Horse lovers of all ages will enjoy this farm.
