Monday Morning Quaterback

Recap of the Seahawks/Cardinals game.

With the Seahawks and Cardinals both out of the playoff picture the only thing they were playing for was pride, a winning season and 2nd place in the NFC West.

The Seahawks offense had a slow first half only kicking a field goal and going into halftime down a touchdown.  The third quarter highlight was Leon Washington breaking a 48-yard run for a touchdown.  Cardinals would come right back with a touchdown drive of their own.  Going into the fourth quarter Seahawks 10 Cardinals 17.

Shortly in the fourth quarter Jay Feeley for the Cardinals would kick a 43-yard field goal for a 10 point lead.  Richard sherman would come up with an interception and a 33-yard return to the Arizona 11-yard line.  Seahawks were unable to punch it in for a touchdown and settled on a field goal.  Later in the quarter Tarvaris Jackson would hit Ricardo Lockette down field for a 61-yard juggling catch and the game tying touchdown.  The game would go into overtime tied Seahawks 20 Cardinals 20.

Charlie Whitehurst would win the coin toss in overtime.  This might be Charlie's last contribution to the Seahawks as he is a free agent in the off season.  The Seahawks would get the ball first and promptly go three and out and punting the ball.  Cardinals drove the ball down into field goal range thanks to two outstanding catches by Larry Fitzgerald.  Jay Feeley would kick a 28- yard field goal for the win.

Tarvaris Jackson just never got going.  He was over throwing wide open receivers down field.  His over throws made a difference in the game from the Seahawks being in field goal range, to having to punt the ball.  He was back to his old ways holding onto the ball to long and getting sacked four times.

This may be one of the few times I didn't mind the Seahawks losing, with the loss they moved up in the NFL draft 5-6 spots and will play a third place schedule next season.

By the numbers:

*  Tarvaris Jackson threw his first interception in five games.

*  This was Pete Carroll's first time losing to the Cardinals with the Seahawks.

*  This is the Seahawks' fourth consecutive losing regular season.

*  The touchdown throw to Lockette was Tarvaris Jackson's longest touchdown throw on the season.

Fun fact:

Marshawn Lynch was fined $10,000 by the NFL for wearing skittle shoes in last weeks Niners game.
