Praying in the Rain

Wednesday was National Prayer Day. I was fortunate to stand at Allan Yorke Park with 8 other prayer souls and pray for the multitude of needful things of todays fastly darkening world.

Wednesday was National Prayer Day. I was fortunate to stand at Allan Yorke Park with 8 other prayer souls and pray for the multitude of needful things of todays fastly darkening world.

The dissapointment of this day was that only 9 of us came. In my minds eye I thought, "I'll bet I need to walk a ways from the car, due to the crowd." Where was everyone? Mostly I thought, why isn't more of our town here? The day was eventful none-the-less.

We touched topics of great concern like homeless in Bonney Lake and the elderly without lights and heat. There were clergy and mothers with sleeping children. Housewives and retired men and women all coming to ask for the Lord's blessings and forgiveness.

One man was a Chaplain. He told us of the mounting amount of suicides. Just broke my heart. Tears were shed for the Military and the concerns of the families whose children went over and did not come home. Young wives with children left for such a heroic time for this Nation.

The young children in the countless family situations of abuse, drugs and the like. The innocent little ones who undoubtedly will make up the stats of the same.  Why Lord. Why the children. Can't you do that first. The schools filled with meaningful souls wanting to give the children under their care a decent education with all this strife and hardship. School systems on the decline and not enough qualified to do an efficient job.

Many of us sit and think, "Oh well, it has gone too far for me to do anything now." Make an attitude adjustment and give the old standby a try. Take a minute of your day and say that prayer for the concerns that lay on your heart. What hurt is in it? Do it and lets see what will be God's answer. There is strength in numbers when praying. It is proven in mighty and small ways all around us.

I was blessed that day to be among the leaders of our Churches here in Bonney Lake. Not many came but the wills and thoughts of the few of us shook the heavens with a mighty cry.

The Lord is gathering his people now. Will you come and join me this Sunday at a nearby church and feel the spirit move among those there. Who knows, your life may take a turn of great joy.

What hurt could there be?
