Today I felt a familar feeling as I walked to my car. The feel of Spring. I thought to myself "will my family help me clean for Spring? Well, not usually, not very many times in the past, etc. So I got prepared to do it.
One other feeling I got was the idea of getting ready to do an Art Show somewhere around here and soon. Do I have enough new paintings or enough funds for frames? Oh no, was the next thing that entered my mind. I have to get on the ball.
New pieces are paramount in an artist's career. Stale old works will run away the folks that know you and those who want to follow you and buy each year. Doing shows for loads of years now, I have seen my booth be dull. So, what is next? Get your pencil and paper out. Catalogue all your framed and unframed pieces. State the name , price and date finished of each work. Maybe a brief description as well. Then, the ones that you are not finished with. I take each one and sit them somewhere in the house that you will see them often. Doing this will help with the finish. Seeing it from a distance is the best way to see all the angles that will jump out either good or needing something.

As for me, finishing is the best feeling going. Although a year from now you may see something else that will touch your brain with a new fix. Go with it. Take it out of the frame and work on it that day. Saying, "I'll do it this weekend" won't do. The fire is hot and the energy is flowing. Works,works ,works. Now, all you great and wonderful artists out there start your engines and lets roll.
