Teacher Appreciation Week

A Special Way to Say Thank You to Teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week

This year, teacher appreciation week is May 7-11, 2012. In fact, you might even be participating in Teacher Appreciation Week activities this week at your child’s school, or you might have sent in treats, Starbucks cards or other small gifts to your children’s teachers this week.

These gifts can come in a variety of shapes and sizes – remember, it’s the thought that counts! Your school will also have a special schedule lined up which will provide many outlets for you to show how much you’re teacher means to you. Maybe you could write your teacher a poem or even a story about your favorite memory. You may also choose to make you’re teacher a “best teacher in the world” award, and present it to him or her during the week.

First off, we’d like to add our voices to all of the others in our community who want to send a giant “THANK YOU!” out to Bonney Lake, Buckley and Enumclaw area teachers.  The plateau area of southeast King and northeast Pierce counties (including parts of Auburn, Bonney Lake, Buckley, Enumclaw, Wilkeson and Carbonado) is not only a beautiful place to live, but it is a great place to raise children, in large measure due to the dedication of the teachers and coaches who impact our kids lives so positively.

It’s  possible that you didn’t know it was Teacher Appreciation Week at your child’s school or you might not have had a chance to participate.

If so, we have good news!  It’s not too late to plan to do something to thank your child’s homeroom teacher, favorite teacher or another educator who has made a difference in the life of your son or daughter.

Carved wood signs like the one below, by local artisan and owner of  Watson’s Wooden Word's Tom Watson would make great teacher appreciation gifts and we can still make them in time for you to give your child’s teacher a carved wood sign as a thank you gift before high school graduation or summer vacation begins.
