You Know You're a Sports Fanatic When......

Here are a few signs you might be more then just an average sports fan.

If you are any kind of sports fan, then I would bet a few of these will apply to you.

You know you're a sports fanatic when. . . . .

You plan your vacation around sports:  When planning a vacation, you look to see what sports teams are with in your vacation radius and you change your vacation dates to when the home team is in town. I already have my vacation plans in the work for next year. With the Pac-12 Basketball Championship in Las Vegas, I am already working on being able to catch the NASCAR races and both  Pac-12 and West Coast basketball tournaments. If I have any extra time that week, the Mountain West and Western Athletic conference tournaments are also played at the same time.

You listen to golf and auto racing on the radio:  Yes, I have listen to NASCAR races on the radio. Especially now that I have a NASCAR fantasy team it allows me to keep tabs on my drivers. This Easter when the Masters was going into their playoff holes, I had listen to the first playoff hole on the radio. I made it to my destination in time to watch the second playoff hole and Bubba Watson win it all.

You take time off work for sports:   There is a few times a year I will use vacation time for sports: the Monday after the Superbowl, Mariners opening in Japan at three in the morning, first two full days of March Madness and anything else that might come up through out the year.

You try and talk your daughter into having her Sweet 16 in a Mariner's suite:  I tried talking my daughter, who turns 16 this year, to have her party in a Mariner's suite. I thought it would be so cool to have our own suite. It would have been perfect, they were in town that week and her name would be on the big screen during birthday announcements. She just wasn't buying it; instead she wants some Mardi Gras/Cirque De Soleil party. Where did I go wrong with her?

You know the songs/jingles to your home town teams:  I will still bust out some of the old Mariners jingles from the 70's while I am watching the game. Even though we no longer have the Sonics, I can still sing the first verse of "Not in our House." I can remember thinking how cool I thought I was when I could finally sing it word for word.

You run on sports time:  Any sports fan has run on sports time. That is when you have a family BBQ to attend on Sunday that starts at 3:00. You will be there on sports time, a half an hour after the clock hits double zeros (90 if it is a soccer match) or the last out of a baseball game. I don't know how long it takes me to clean, but I know how much I can get done during commercial game breaks. I have friends and family that will invite me over and they won't give me a time but instead tell me to come over when the game is over during football season.

There might be a few other tell tale signs I have left out like having cable installed in your master bathroom, having more sports memorabilia on display then family pictures or sitting in your car waiting for a game break so you can run inside and turn the game on without missing a play.

Yes, I will admit I am a sports fanatic and need help.  Admitting I have a problem is my first step to recovery.
