Cougar Spotted At Bonney Lake Park: Police
Bonney Lake police are asking residents to be on the lookout for the animal.

BONNEY LAKE, WA - Bonney Lake police are reporting that a cougar was seen Wednesday morning in the vicinity of Ken Simmons Park, which is located just west of Lake Tapps. Police are asking residents to call 911 or the state Department of Fish and Wildlife to report cougar sightings.
Cougar sightings are relatively rare in Western Washington. Cougars tend to flee humans, and are most active between dusk and dawn.
Cougar attacks are even rarer than sightings. However, a Seattle man was killed by a cougar earlier this summer while hiking in the Cascades near North Bend. On May 19, Isaac Sederbaum and S.J. Brooks were bicycling along a forest road when the cougar attacked. Sederbaum was able to escape on his bike. Wildlife officials later found a cougar standing near Brooks' body. The cougar was shot twice and killed. Sederbaum was severely injured by the cougar but survived the attack.
