East Pierce Fire Engine Damaged In Collision With Car
An East Pierce fire engine on its way to emergency was hit by a driver Wednesday morning.
BONNEY LAKE, WA — An East Pierce Fire engine was damaged in a Wednesday morning crash with a car along Veterans Memorial Highway.
The engine was headed to an unrelated emergency when the driver pulled around traffic stopped at Angeline Road and onto Veterans Memorial Drive. The driver of the vehicle had minor injuries, and she was taken to a local hospital as a precaution, according to East Pierce Chief Bud Backer.
No firefighters were hurt in the crash, although Backer said the engine could be out of service for a few months due to repairs. Another unit responded to the initial medical emergency.

The road was still closed as of 10:30 a.m. between Church Lake Road and 192nd Ave East, according to police. The car had been towed from the scene, and Backer said the engine appeared to be drive-able.
