DUI Suspected in Overnight Accident on State Route 162

Drugs or alcohol were suspected as being a factor in an overnight accident on State Route 162 that injured both drivers, said a Washington State Patrol memo Sunday.

The accident was reported at 2:04 a.m. at 10805 State Route 162, south of Spooner Farms.

A Toyota four-door driving by a 53-year-old Puyallup man reportedly crossed over the center line and struck a Pontiac two-door driving by a 41-year-old Auburn woman. Both drivers were taken to Tacoma General Hospital, and as both vehicles also carried passengers, they were taken to the hospital as well as a precautionary measure.
