Garbage Day Changes from Friday to Tuesday in Sumner

But in Bonney Lake DM Disposal's schedule won't change.

Don’t take out your garbage today if you live in Sumner. It won’t do any good. In fact it could lead to some messes because garbage won’t be collected until Tuesday.

DM Disposal is changing the day it collects waste in Sumner. Bonney Lake’s collection day will not change. However, if you live outside either city the collection days vary so contact DM Disposal for specifics at 253-414-0345.

Operation manager Mark Gingrich said despite the change in service there will be no change in cost to customers. The Port of Tacoma company charges $21.60 a month for one can of garbage and $5.73 a month for yard waste. For more information on costs go to www.ci.sumner.wa.us/Living/Garbage.htm.

The DM Disposal website says even if your collection schedule does not change, your pickup time may. So always have your items out by 7 a.m.

“These changes have been implemented in order to serve our customers more consistently, effectively, and with safety as the top priority,” the website says. ”Over the years, as the South Sound area has grown and developed; some of our collection days have become unbalanced; with some collection routes being very large and time consuming; while other routes are completed in a shorter time. By reassigning the route days for several areas, we are able to better balance the number of collection stops on each route, allowing for safer and more-efficient service.”
