His Friends Couldn't Come, So Firemen Save Boy's Birthday Party

A 5-year-old boy was having a birthday on Sunday. His friends couldn't make it, so local firefighters came to his rescue.

PACIFIC, WA - Whether it's a burning building or a lonely birthday party, firefighters will be there to rescue you.

On Sunday afternoon, Valley Regional firefighters used their lunch break to visit a 5-year-old boy on his birthday. The boy's friends suddenly couldn't make it to the party, so three local firefighters and local police rushed to the scene - and perhaps made the birthday much more awesome.

The firefighters were alerted to the emergency by local police. Capt. Jason Herman (who was not even supposed to be at work that day) and firefighters Dean McAuley and David Swanson jumped in a truck and headed to the scene. But first they stopped at a local store for gifts: they bought the boy some monster trucks, and even gift-wrapped them.

At the scene of the birthday party, the boy got to wear a fire helmet, and got to use a firefighting hose. The boy's parents declined an interview request, but firefighters reported that he was smiling when they left the party.

"Thank you Captain Herman and Firefighters McAuley and Swanson and the Pacific and Algona police officers for putting a smile on this little guys face on his birthday," the department wrote on Facebook.
