Motorcyclist Dies in Crash on Pioneer Way
A motorcyclist from Chelan died on Pioneer Way East, just south of Sumner on Saturday evening.
A 53-year-old motorcyclist from Chelan was declared dead at the scene following a head-on collision with a pickup truck on the 15400 block of Pioneer Way East Saturday evening, according to the Washington State Patrol and East Pierce Fire and Rescue.
The road is also known as State Route 162, just south of Sumner.
According to the Washington State Patrol, Stuart Hancock was traveling westbound on SR 162 at 7:50 p.m. when he crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic and hit an oncoming pickup truck, driven by a 27-year-old Graham resident.
The pickup truck driver was transported him to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
