Puyallup Street Pavement Repairs Begin Thursday In Sumner
The failed pavement job in Sumner along Puyallup Street will begin to be repaired beginning Thursday.

SUMNER, WA - Get ready for some construction delays along Puyallup Street. Beginning Thursday, crews will start repairing the "failed" asphalt job that was completed last year. A full closure of Puyallup Street won't happen until June 2 (and it will be an overnight closure), but there will be some rough patches and congestion until then.
Here's what the city says to expect in the coming weeks:
May 25: Work will begin with crews on scene. Expect congestion and delays but no closures.

May 31: Grinding up the failed asphalt. Expect flaggers, congestion and rough road but no closures.
June 2: Beginning at 7 p.m. and lasting until 4 a.m. the next day paving is scheduled, which requires a full closure of Puyallup Street west of Tacoma Avenue to the Fryar Avenue bridge. Cars and passenger vehicles may use a detour route of Puyallup Street east of Tacoma Avenue to Elm/Zehnder. Because this work is being done through the evening, we do not want truck traffic impacting the residential neighborhoods of this detour. All freight tractor-trailers will be asked to use the 24th Street interchange or the Traffic Avenue interchange and will not be allowed on the detour route.
