Search For Man Missing After Fall Into Puyallup River To Continue Wednesday
The search for a 45-year-old man was suspended Tuesday night until Wednesday morning.

SUMNER, WA - Search crews Tuesday evening suspended an effort to find a man who accidentally fell into the Puyallup River on Monday night. The searched ended at around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the city of Sumner, whose police department is charge of the search. The search will resume Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m.

On Monday around 5 p.m., emergency crews responded to the Puyallup River near Sumner on a report that a man fishing with his family slipped and fell into the river. The man was not wearing a life jacket, and his family said that he does not know how to swim.
The search was suspended Monday night due to darkness, and crews resumed the search on Tuesday morning. The U.S. Coast Guard sent a helicopter to the area Tuesday to aid in the search.

The region has seen a number of water emergencies over the past week. Two canoeists went missing in the Skykomish River Monday afternoon, but were found safe along the shoreline. On May 21, 16-year-old Samuel Kim of Issaquah drowned while swimming in the Snoqualmie River near North Bend. On May 23, three people tubing along the Green River fell in, and one woman in that party was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment.
