Second Earthquake Since Friday Strikes Under Bonney Lake
The magnitude 2.5 earthquake hit around 1 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network.

BONNEY LAKE, WA - Another earthquake hit the Bonney Lake-Sumner area on Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday's quake follows a smaller quake on June 23 that measured a magnitude 2.1. The two quakes happened in virtually the same location, in an area west of SR 410.
Tuesday's quake was initially reported as a magnitude 2.5, but has since been revised down to a magnitude 2.2. Tuesday's quake was located north of 92nd Street Northeast at the bottom of the plateau and was about 10 miles deep.

The Bonney Lake-Sumner area has been relatively seismically active so far this year. A handful of very small quakes struck under Bonney Lake in late March and early April.

Historically, there hasn't been an earthquake above a magnitude 4 in intensity in the area, according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network. The largest quake to hit the area happened in 1988; a magnitude 3.9 hit under Tacoma near the intersection of Pioneer Avenue and Tacoma Road East.
