The "Sumner Strutters" team includes top Sumner city officials literally walking a mile in women's shoes.

SUMNER, WA - To raise money for Pierce County's sexual assault support center and bring attention to the issue, the a group of Sumner city officials will literally walk a mile in women's shoes. The team of Sumner officials - called the "Sumner Strutters" - will wear high heels and participate in a walk on Friday in support of Rebuilding Hope, the sexual assault center of Pierce County. The Sumner team is still raising money for the event, and you can visit the team's First Giving page here.
The Sumner Strutters team includes Police Chief Brad Moericke, City Administrator John Galle, Public Works Director Mike Dahlem, City Attorney Brett Vinson, and Community Development Director Ryan Windish. The walk begins at 11 a.m. Friday at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma.

This is the 12th year for the Walk A Mile In Her Shoes event, and this year's walk has raised closed to $20,000 for Rebuilding Hope.
"There is an old saying: 'You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes.' Walk a Mile in Her Shoes asks men to literally walk one mile in women's high-heeled shoes. It's not easy walking in these shoes, but it is fun and it gets the community to talk about something that is really difficult to talk about," reads a description of the event.
