Sumner Police: Man Assaulted After Calling Girlfriend Wrong Name, and Woman Swindled of More than $24,000 in Online Dating Scams
The following information from July 19 to July 24 was provided by the Sumner Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

July 19, 2013
Domestic Assault: Police arrested and cited a woman for fourth-degree assault domestic violence after responding to a report at about 3 p.m. that she’d hit her boyfriend at their home on the 1400 block of Lawrence Avenue. The boyfriend told police she had woken him up but in that time he’d called her by another woman’s name, which set her off, and she struck him in the face three times. Officers found the man had a cut on his lip and complained of pain to his mouth but declined aid. The woman was found to also have an outstanding warrant out of Auburn, and after her citation by Sumner, she was turned over to the other jurisdiction.

Disorderly Conduct: Police arrested a man for disorderly conduct after responding to Schafer’s Bar and Grill at about 12:20 a.m. for a report he had instigated a fight on the dance floor and was refusing to leave.

Dating Site Scams: A woman reported to police she’d met two men on two different dating sites and both had swindled her out of $20,000 and $4,800, respectively. She met the first man on ChristianSingles.com and the second on Match.com. Both asked her to send the money, sometimes in the form of a plane ticket or through Western Union in exchange for a bank credit deposit. In the latter case, the deposit was no longer in her account after she sent her cash.

Stolen Boat: A citizen on the 200 block of Mountain Circle Drive reported at 11:24 p.m. that someone had stolen his boat and trailer from the driveway sometime between July 20 and July 23. It was described as a 2001 Bayliner, outboard boat (license: WN6136NJ) and a 2001 Escor boat trailer (2293VN).

Disorderly Conduct: Police arrested a man for disorderly conduct after responding to Farrelli’s Pizza at about 11:30 p.m. He had reportedly been harassing customers and when asked to leave, left his car keys there and left, only to return later and continue to harass customers and threaten staff members. He told police his car was at three different locations – none of which turned out when an officer when to check. During this time, the officer also stopped at Schafer’s and learned the man was also there doing the same thing to customers. When asked to leave, he reportedly left a motorcycle key there. Both sets of keys were in police custody.
