Sumner Police: Teens End Fight with Handshake, Employee Reports Credit Card Fraud and Keys, Purse Stolen in Church Break-in

The following information from March 21 through March 27 was provided by the Sumner Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

March 21, 2013

Burglary: Police received a report at 12:05 p.m. that a metal storage container on the property of Rams Field at 1304 West Valley Highway was burglarized overnight again. Three locks were forced open on the container but nothing appeared to be missing.

Cut Off: Police responded to the Log Cabin at 2719 East Valley Highway for a report of an unruly group and a woman who needed medical attention. They were gone by the time officers arrived. Security reported the group was removed from the bar for causing a disturbance and one security guard was hit and scratched in the confrontation. They also reported someone in the group threatened to return to the bar with a gun. One member of the group later contacted police to complain about the roughness of security staff. Police were reviewing surveillance video of the incident.

Juvenile Fight: Two juveniles were being referred to Remann Hall for charges of disorderly conduct after police responded to the Daffodil Sports Complex at 5605 Graham Avenue at about 5:30 p.m. for a report of a fight in progress. The two teens told police varying stories on how the fight began but both at some point shook hands and agreed to end the fight. Both sustained injuries. A large group had reportedly gathered to watch the fight.

Credit Card Fraud: An employee at Old Cannery Furniture called police at about 8 p.m. to report a woman using a stolen credit card to purchase more than $5,500 in items. The identity of the card’s true owner was found to be a Bonney Lake woman who reported several credit cards missing last August. She had not canceled the Old Cannery credit card this suspect was trying to use as she didn’t realize it had also been stolen.

March 27, 2013

Break-in: Police responded to St. Andrew’s Church at 1401 Valley Avenue at 10:13 p.m. for a report that someone had broken into a church office between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. and stolen keys to the church building and a wallet. The office was not attached to the main church but the door lock mechanism appeared to be broken. The responding officer noted fresh tool marks on the door handle. Nothing else was reportedly missing from the building though one door handle inside the church was also damaged.
