Sumner School District No More? Board Votes On Name Change
The Sumner School District voted last week on whether to change the district name to include Bonney Lake.

SUMNER, WA - After 125 years, the Sumner School District is going away forever. The school board voted last week to change the district's name to the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District. The change takes effect this school year as soon as the district clears the move with the state.
The school board has been mulling the name change since at least March because more families and school facilities are located in Bonney Lake, according to the district. The school board discussed the change at its March 15 meeting, and there was a public hearing in mid-April.
At the Sept. 20 meeting, the board voted 3-2 in favor of the change.
