SUPPORT EAST PIERCE FIRE & RESCUE, THEY SUPPORT YOU!

In early August, my 48 year old husband lay on the ground, making me a widow for about 10 minutes. If it wasn’t for the nearby first responders that day, I would be a widow today. However, the nearby first responders used their training and equipment to bring my husband back.

We later learned that 95% of the people that suffer ventricular fibrillation don’t make it, thanks to nearby first responders mine did. Truly grateful that East Pierce Fire & Rescue has made the effort for increased training that improved the survival rate to an amazing record of 40% for witnessed ventricular fibrillation, I would be a single Mom today without them.

It’s easy to speak the words “be brave” and believe you’re independent and capable. However it’s not so easy to explain to your children and family… the loss of a family member because first responders were not able to get to you in time to save your loved one because you (the people) did not vote. Or worse, you believe you’re “brave” and don’t need the support your local East Pierce Fire Department.

People, being “brave” as the signs around town say, is being foolish! Our East Pierce Fire & Rescue teams are trained professionals who serve our community 24 hours a day 365 days a year! They save lives – like my husband – every day! They save our kids at school, our parents at home, us in car accidents, every day! We don’t have enough of them as is! We can’t afford to lose any of them, not for our lives sake!

Get out and vote!!! Support the team that supports you, our East Pierce Fire & Rescue teams! Did you know in most other areas of the country an Engine shows up and there are 4-6 trained first responders… we have 2 per Engine. They’re already running on a thin thread of man power, don’t make it worse by reducing their numbers and closing stations. Fill in your ballots and VOTE and SUPPORT your current East Pierce Fire and Rescue teams!
