Teen Sent To Jail Over Deadly 2016 Crash In Bonney Lake

McKenzie Krakow, 19, was sentenced Friday for the September 2016 crash that killed her friend, Mackenzie Rae Martin.

BONNEY LAKE, WA - A 19-year-old woman charged with vehicular homicide for a 2016 crash that killed her best friend was sentenced Friday, according to the Tacoma News-Tribune. McKenzie Krakow was sentenced to 15 months in prison for the death of Mackenzie Rae Martin.

The crash happened on Sept. 11, 2016, when Krakow was speeding in an attempt to make her car go airborne over a hill near 160th Street East and 186th Avenue East. That area is south of Bonney Lake near Orting. Krakow was reportedly driving 80 MPH when her car hit a tree.

Martin died after being thrown from the vehicle. She wasn't wearing a seatbelt. Martin and Krakow had graduated from Sumner High School at the end of the school year in 2016.

Krakow had previously pleaded guilty to charges of reckless endangerment and vehicular homicide in July.
