What happens when a Bonney Lake Plateau resident spends the summer 8,000 miles away from home on the other side of Earth? Out of all the fears I had about moving half the world away...this one never came to mind. Yet this was the one that kept me up at night!!!

Oh my, the things that roll through one’s head when making a big transition or move. And I wasn’t just moving across the city…I was moving to the other side of the Earth! From the Americas to Asia. Those few weeks before we boarded the plane, my mind was aflutter with various fears and worries. Upon arrival in Penang, most fears were either unfounded or easily surmounted. But three months into our adventure, I’ll admit, there is still one war that I’m still fighting.
Just like Joseph Conrad’s “Heart of Darkness”, I was waging both external and internal struggles between the cultural baggage I came with from America and challenging my own phobias.
