Vehicular Homicide Charge In Crash That Killed Sumner Teen

The crash happened in Bonney Lake in September.

BONNEY LAKE, WA - Pierce County prosecutors charged a 19-year-old woman with vehicular homicide Tuesday following a crash in September that killed a Sumner High School graduate, according to reports.

Prosecutors allege that McKenzie Krakow was driving three times the legal speed limit - close to 80 MPH - along 160th Street East. Krakow's car flew 150 feet when it came to the crest of a hill. Eighteen-year-old McKenzie Rae Martin, who was in the passenger seat and not wearing a seat belt, died after being thrown from the car. A 16-year-old in the backseat and Krakow suffered minor injuries.
