Water In Sumner Park Has High Bacteria Levels: TPCHD

Health officials are warning against wading or swimming in the creek at Riverside County Park.

SUMNER, WA - Pierce County health officials are cautioning users of Riverside Park to avoid coming into contact with a creek there. The water has tested positive for high levels of bacteria, which can make people sick.

Do not swim or wade in creek along Riverside Dr. in Riverside Park due to high bacteria levels.

Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department recommends people do not swim or wade in the creek along Riverside Drive in Riverside Park. This advisory does not include the Puyallup River. Pierce County Surface Water Management found high levels of bacteria in the water. Any contact with the water can increase the risk of gastrointestinal illness.

Advisory signs are posted at Riverside Park. We will let you know when bacteria levels no longer show increased risks to public health.
