📰 News we're reading

• Washington sockeye spend about seven days reaching trap before hydropower dam transport (energiesmedia.com) — Sockeye salmon heading up the Skagit are now taking about seven days to reach the Baker River Fish Trap at Concrete, where they’re counted and trucked past the big hydropower dams. Biologists are using new sonar near Sedro-Woolley and detailed tagging data to better track the run, aiming to keep wild sockeye moving despite massive concrete barriers upstream.
