Residents can weigh in on new requirements for flood-prone areas, habitat protection, and planning for sea level rise that will shape how shorelines across Washington, including Puget Sound communities, are managed for decades.

• 9-year sentence in case tied to fentanyl trafficking, Lummi Nation overdose crisis (whatcom-news.com) — Federal prosecutors say a large fentanyl trafficking investigation tied to overdoses in Whatcom County has led to a nine-year prison sentence for a Federal Way man and charges against several others, including a Des Moines resident. Phillip Lamont Alexander of Des Moines has pleaded guilty and is scheduled for sentencing in November, underscoring how this regional drug network reaches into South King County communities.
