10 Mile Backup On I-5: Bad Crash Jams Wednesday Commute
A serious crash near Smokey Point backed traffic up all the way to Everett on Wednesday.

SMOKEY POINT, WA - A serious crash near Smokey Point backed up northbound I-5 traffic about 10 miles during the Wednesday commute, according to Washington State Patrol. The accident happened at milepost 204 and involved a semitrailer and at least one car. One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The ensuing investigation caused the bulk of the delay. Troopers had to close all but the right northbound lane for about two hours to investigate. All northbound lanes were open by about 5 p.m., but backups were still lingering well south of the crash scene.
Update 2 of 2 - we still only have one lane of traffic getting by on right shoulder and this will continue throughout the investigation. TS
