1. Edmonds Port Commission special meeting agenda for Oct. 12, 2026 (myedmondsnews.com) — A special Port of Edmonds Commission meeting on Oct. 12 will cover a Purple Heart Port proclamation, seawall and Portwalk upgrades, and a workshop on the 2027 preliminary budget. Edmonds residents can attend in person on Admiral Way or via Zoom, and are encouraged to submit public comments in advance so their feedback becomes part of the official record.
2. Utility increases and 2027-28 budget top Oct. 6 Council meeting (myedmondsnews.com) — Edmonds officials are weighing a 2027-29 utility rate hike and a newly proposed 2027-28 city budget that closes a looming gap but still faces a 2028 "financial cliff." Councilmembers pressed for details on staffing, revenue options, and support for residents on fixed incomes, while inviting the public to upcoming budget talks, including an Oct. 21 council conversation at Meadowdale.
3. Sounder trains to run for Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers (thefactsnewspaper.com) — Edmonds riders can catch special Sounder trains this Sunday, Oct. 11, to reach the Seahawks–49ers game at Lumen Field, with north-line trains stopping in Mukilteo and Edmonds before arriving at King Street Station. The schedule, return-trip timing, and reminders about ORCA payment and light rail connections make this a convenient option even if you're just heading into Seattle for other weekend plans.
4. Edmonds Petanque Club donates record $14,656 to food bank (myedmondsnews.com) — The Edmonds Petanque Club has donated a record $14,656 to the Edmonds Food Bank, bringing its total support since 2011 to more than $114,000. With demand surging to nearly 19,000 people served in September alone, the gift helps sustain food distribution while also inviting locals to learn and play petanque through the club's website.
5. 10 Seattle-area spots to bring out your inner child (thederrick.com) — One of the featured ways to feel like a kid again is WhirlyBall Seattle in Edmonds, where players bump around in cars while tossing a Wiffle ball toward a tiny goal. The broader guide highlights several Seattle-area spots for playful escapes, but Edmonds residents may especially appreciate having Washington's only WhirlyBall court right in town.
