EDMONDS, WA - An 18-year-old Edmonds-Woodway High School student put a real-looking gun to the head of a classmate and pulled the trigger at the school on Tuesday, Edmonds police are reporting. The 18-year-old was arrested Tuesday night in Everett on a second-degree assault charge.
The incident happened in a bathroom at the school around 11:30 a.m., according to to police. A video of the assault was posted on social media by students, police said, and students who watched the video told school officials.
The student did not have a gun on him when he was arrested. But police later located the suspected weapon, which turned out to be an air gun.

Even though the weapon was not real, Edmonds Police Chief Al Compaan said that students should always report such incidents.
“I first want to recognize those brave students who came forward to report what they had seen on social media. Their actions allowed school and police officials to quickly work together and address this extreme safety concern," Compaan said in a statement.
