Body Found In Skykomish River Identified As Texas Woman

The 25-year-old woman from Houston, Texas, disappeared near Sunset Falls on June 27.

INDEX, WA - The body of a woman recovered this week along the Skykomish River has been identified as the same woman who went missing in the river at the end of June. The woman was identified as Shauna R. Geffon, 25, of Houston, Texas.

According to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner, Geffon drowned accidentally. Her body was recovered from the river on Wednesday, but her identification was not released until Friday.

Geffon's drowning happened around 8 p.m. on June 27. After the woman's family reported her missing, the county's helicopter, Snohawk1, searched the area for an hour; firefighters on the ground also searched for her. The search was suspended around 9 p.m. due to darkness.

Geffon was seen sitting on a rock in the river, but suddenly disappeared, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.

On June 17, a 49-year-old man was walking along the river near Sunset Falls when he fell in. His body was also found recently.
