The fire happened around 5 p.m. Tuesday at a home near Pine Ridge Park.

EDMONDS, WA - Three children escaped from a burning home in northeast Edmonds Tuesday night after a fire broke out in the kitchen. Firefighters responded to the home along the 20500 block of 80th Avenue West around 4:40 p.m. after getting reports of smoke coming out of the home.
When firefighters arrived, flames were visible in the kitchen, according to Snohomish County Fire District 1 PIO Leslie Hynes said. The three children - ages 15, 11, and 6 - were able to leave the house safely after the fire broke out.
The cause of the fire was determined to be food left on the stove. The department estimated the damage at about $215,000, and the home was uninhabitable. The occupants were renting the home and did not have insurance.
