Couple Passed Out In Mini-Van, With Gun On Floorboard, Cuffed In Edmonds

The male suspect from Seattle allegedly had heroin in his pocket and $17K hidden in his pants, police said.

EDMONDS, WA – A 38-year-old Seattle man and a female companion were arrested last week after police reportedly found them passed out in a mini-van in an Edmonds supermarket parking lot.

Officers recovered a revolver, found near the foot of the male driver, and drug paraphernalia, spotted near the female passenger's feet, after they approached the vehicle shortly after 2 a.m. Sept. 14 in the WinCo Foods lot on the 21900 block of Highway 99, said Sgt. Shane Hawley of the Edmonds Police Department.

"The female passenger gave the drug paraphernalia to the officer," Hawley said. "It was then the officer realized there was a revolver sitting by the driver’s foot. He was still passed out at the time."

The driver, who had a felony warrant from the Department of Corrections and multiple felony convictions, including possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of drugs, was arrested for suspicion of possession of drugs with the intent to deliver and unlawful possession of a firearm, Hawley said.

The man reportedly was found with $2,700 and 53 grams of heroin in his pockets, police said, adding that after being taken to jail, an additional $17,700 was discovered hidden in the groin area of the suspect's pants.

During a warrant search of the mini-van, a shotgun was recovered, along with 374 grams of methamphetamine and 124 grams of heroin, police said.
