'Dangerous' Alleged Eastside Drug Dealer Captured, Faces Multiple Charges

The suspect was caught after a standoff involving the Edmonds-area joint SWAT team.

REDMOND, WA — A long investigation involving multiple local police departments has concluded with the arrest of a man who Redmond Police called a "very dangerous individual."

Carlos Anderson was arrested in September after a standoff at a home in Bothell known as the "Lego house" - so named by neighbors because it appeared Legos were being bought and sold out of the house.

The investigation dates back to 2014 when Redmond Police raided a home in Kirkland related to a drug investigation. Police arrested two suspects in that raid and recovered guns, knives, methamphetamine, heroin and property linked to local burglaries and car prowls. The suspects also provided information that allowed police to identify Anderson as an alleged major Redmond-area meth and heroin dealer.

By May 2016, police learned that Snohomish County authorities had issued a felony warrant for Anderson for drug possession. Another felony warrant surfaced for Anderson out of Kitsap County, this time for second-degree burglary.

In August, Redmond Police learned that Anderson was staying in the Bothell "Lego house" and that the Snohomish County prosecutor was planning to file five additional charges against Anderson for unlawful possession of a firearm.

On Sept. 16, Redmond and Bothell police surrounded the house and asked Anderson and everyone else to come out. Five people come out of the home - Anderson's son and girlfriend, their grandson and two other adults - but not Anderson.

Police waited for 40 minutes before obtaining a warrant to enter the home. The North Sound Metro SWAT team - which is comprised of officers from 10 local departments from Edmonds to Kirkland - arrived and engaged with Anderson for three hours, asking him to surrender. Anderson never responded, so the team deployed devices that "motivated the suspect to surrender," the police said.

In the home, police found heroin, methamphetamine, a loaded 9mm pistol, a revolver, a .38 Special and drug paraphernalia such as scales, baggies and pipes.

In November, Anderson was charged for crimes related to the Redmond investigation including unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm and bail jumping. Anderson was also charged with second-degree burglary, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of a stolen firearm and an additional count of unlawful possession of a firearm. Those charges were related to separate investigations.
