EDCC Screening Movie to Spotlight Discrimination of LGBT Seniors
"Gen Silent" is part of National Day of Silence.

The Office of Student Life at is sponsoring a free screening of Gen Silent Wednesday at 3 p.m. in honor of National Day of Silence, which is Friday.Â
Gen Silent is a critically acclaimed documentary from filmmaker Stu Maddux that asks six lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender seniors if they will hide their friends, their spouses—their entire lives—in order to survive the health care system.
Their surprising decisions are captured through intimate access to their day-to-day lives over the course of a year. It puts a face on what experts in the film call an epidemic: LGBT older people so afraid of discrimination by caregivers or bullying by other seniors that many simply go back into the closet.
