Edmonds Mudslide, Gas Leak Forces Evacuation
The slide happened early Thursday morning in the Meadowdale area, according to police.

EDMONDS, WA - Part of a neighborhood in north Edmonds was evacuated early Thursday after a mudslide and ensuing gas leak, according to South Snohomish Fire. Up to 30 homes were evacuated, and some homeowners are being asked to stay away until a geological evaluation can be done near the slide area.
The slide happened in the Meadowdale area near North Meadowdale Road and 73rd Place West. The mudslide also caused a gas leak, which utility crews were able to contain by about 6:30 a.m. Thursday.
The slide hit during the Western Washington's worst rain storm since last winter. More than an inch of rain fell overnight in the Edmonds area, according to the National Weather Service.
