Edmonds PD: Power Outage the Result of Medical Emergency on 76th Ave. W

Driver hits two power poles, taking one off at the ground.

An accident caused by a medical emergency caused a power outage in portions of Edmonds on Sunday.

At 4:36 p.m., a 53-year-old Everett woman driving a 2006 Ford Focus southbound on 76th Avenue W approaching 220th Street SW suffered a medical emergency and temporarily lost consciousness, said Sgt. Mike Blackburn of the Edmonds Police Department.

The car continued southbound through a red light and struck a power pole in the 22000 block of 76th, breaking it off at the ground.

The vehicle continued southbound through 222nd Street SW, where it again drifted off the roadway and struck a second power pole. No damage was done to the second pole.

Power was lost in the area until rerouted early Monday morning.

The woman was transported to a Seattle hospital with only minor airbag-related injuries.
