Edmonds Police Report Child-Luring Incidents Near Elementary School

An unidentified stranger may have contacted the same student three times over the last year.

EDMONDS, WA - Police are reporting that a man has tried to lure an elementary school student into his pickup truck at least twice over the past two weeks near College Place Elementary.

This week, police learned of an incident on Jan. 11 where a boy was approached by a stranger while walking home from school around 3:15 p.m. along the 20100 block of 76th Avenue West. The stranger "demanded" the boy get in the truck; the child ran home and told his mother. The mother called the school, and school officials contacted police.

The student told police a similar incident happened on Jan. 4, and possibly a third time last February. The suspect is described as an older man with spiked brown hair and an unshaven face. He was driving an extended cab Ford Ranger colored green and brown.

Police have stepped up patrols in the area of the school, but they are asking anyone who sees the suspect vehicle to call police or email tips to EPDtips@edmondswa.gov.
