Push + Pull: A Multi-Arts Performance

Edmonds Community College invites public to experience an innovative multi-arts collaboration, May 17

Lynnwood, Wash. — Edmonds Community College Music and Visual Arts Departments present Push + Pull: A Multi-Arts Performance, 7:30 p.m., Thurs, May 17 on campus, 20000 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood.  This event is free but a $7 suggested donation supports academic scholarships at the college.

Composed by Edmonds CC Music and Visual Arts faculty, Push + Pull features student art and music performances and choreography by Karin Stevens Dance Company. Throughout the piece, musicians, painters and dancers will respond to five different movements: Attractor, Squeeze, Tug, Newton's Cradle, and Hoist, resulting in an innovative sensory experience for the audience.

“Push + Pull is a one-of-a-kind improvisational performance between art and music students, and a professional dance company,” said Edmonds CC Music Department chair, John Sanders. “‘It’s based on loose structures and has no parameters, offering the audience a unique perspective of an authentic multi-arts collaboration.”

Opening the night are two compositions by Sanders, titled “Rubber Band” and “Twelve by Two,” performed by Edmonds CC Music students.
