"Flights of Fancy" Featuring Kathleen A. Johnson

During the month of May, Gallery North features the colorful paintings of award-winning Edmonds artist Kathleen A. Johnson.

Gallery North announces its May featured exhibit: “Flights of Fancy.” This exhibit will feature award-winning artist Kathleen A. Johnson’s colorful and sometimes whimsical bird paintings. In addition, this show will also introduce some of her inspired abstract paintings. Her love of color and feeling for her subjects is evident in her paintings. “It is easy to be inspired when I observe birds in the wild,” says Kathleen. “This leads me to try and capture their personalities, or the feeling that I get from them in my paintings.”

Kathleen A. Johnson often is referred to as the “crow lady” because crows are often featured in her paintings. Her Edmonds-based business, Two Crows Studio, even is named for her love of these intelligent animals. “I have always had an interest in birds, particularly crows,” she says. “I feel that they help keep us in touch with nature.”
A Gallery North member and the organization’s president this year, Kathleen A. Johnson is also active in several local art organizations including ArtistsConnect, and the annual Edmonds Art Studio Tour.

When viewing her work, people are often inspired to share their stories of crow encounters; Kathleen invites you to come and share yours. The public is invited to two special events at Gallery North during May: the Artist Reception for Kathleen A. Johnson on Saturday, May 9, from 1-4 pm, and a reception during the Edmonds Third Thursday Art Walk, on May 21, from 5-8 pm.
