Former Edmonds Councilmember Named Director of King County Organization
Deanna Dawson served Edmonds from 2001 to 2008.

Deanna Dawson, who served on the Edmonds City Council from 2001 to 2008, has been named executive director of the Suburban Cities Association (SCA).
“Deanna Dawson brings just the right background and a truly regional perspective,” said Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) Executive Director Bob Drewel, who worked with Dawson as PSRC Director and as Snohomish County Executive: “She’ll be an effective advocate on behalf of vitally important places in our region at a critical time. We need to collaborate to grow jobs and our economy—as one region.”
Dawson also served as executive director of Snohomish County, where she oversaw law and justice and Human Services. She worked with Executive Aaron Reardon, who followed Drewel, and the county council to establish policy on matters of public safety, access to justice, housing and homelessness, veterans’ services, education, workforce development, and health and vulnerability.
Dawson holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Washington School of Law. She has practiced law in the public and private sectors, and her community involvement includes serving on the boards of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Snohomish County, Washington Women Lawyers, TeamChild, the Snohomish County Center for Battered Women, and Sound Families.
The Suburban Cities Association is a nonprofit association representing the suburban cities of King County. Its members collectively represent nearly one million constituents. SCA was founded in the 1970s to help cities with populations of under 150,000 act locally and partner regionally to create vital, livable communities through advocacy, education, leadership, mutual support, and networking.
