Intoxicated Man Attempts To Take Officer's Gun

An intoxicated man tried to grab an officer's gun Tuesday night, injuring one officer's hand in the process.

EDMONDS, WA - A 37-year-old Springdale man is in custody after he repeatedly tried to take an officer's gun Tuesday night, according to police. The incident started with a report of a man being dragged down a hall in a motel at the 22100 block of Highway 99. When officers arrived, the found the man being dragged was highly agitated and intoxicated.

Police determined that they should take the man into protective custody. However, the man refused and, while being transported via a gurney, police said he tried to take an officer's gun out of its holster.

Officers struck the man with their hands to stop him from taking the gun and secure him on the gurney. He was fighting against his restraints and yelling, police said.

The man was given sedatives and taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Once released, he will be booked for attempting to disarm a police officer.

One officer's hand was injured during the incident.
